There’s no point having a good idea if you don’t know how to pitch it

Last time Bloom was at the Makerspace, we learnt that there were no bad ideas.  On the 5th of September we learnt how to sell our ideas to others at the Bloom Curtin Pitch Workshop.  Joined by our friends at Enactus Curtin, the workshop was led by President of the Om Shanti Foundation, Gareth Shanthikumar.

Gareth led us through his strategy to craft the perfect pitch.  Some key takeaways included:

  1. Begin with the why: Have passion for your idea and it will flow through into your pitch.
  2. Less is more: Don’t overload your pitch with information.
  3. Fake it ’til you make it: Confidence is key and don’t be afraid to go off script.

All attendees were empowered to present during the workshop.

Some attendees were even inspired to take their business ideas to Bloom Curtin’s Pitch Night, where members from the Curtin community pitch their ideas to a panel of experts shark tank style.  The winner takes home the door profits and all participants will receive valuable feedback on how to improve.
